University College Birmingham Library can be found on the 4th and 5th floors of The Link. The Library provides individual and group study spaces with computers, a collection of physical texts and access to a wide range of digital resources online, 24/7, both on campus and from home. The Library also provides a Subject Librarian appointment service to help you research and reference your assignments.
If you'd like support and information from a Subject Librarian, you can book a Research and Referencing appointment here. Many of the library’s resources for individual subject areas are held on the portal which also hosts USearch, the library discovery system which allows you to search across most of our online collection using a keyword search. Additionally, you will find information about your reading lists for each module and your library account from the dashboard area of your profile on the portal.

CASE can also be found in The Link on the 6th and the 6th floor of Summer Row (for FE Students only). The team provide tailored researching and academic skills support to all students at UCB. This includes:
- The Academic Skills Centre - which provides 1-2-1 support related to academic skills development. This might include support with essay writing skills, referencing or understanding feedback. All students are entitled to one 30 minute appointment per week. At CASE, we offer two types of appointments: You can find and book an appointment here.
- Research and Referencing Support with a Subject Librarian
- Academic Support with an Academic Development Tutor
- For FE Students, you can book an appointment by e-mailing srasc@ucb.ac.uk.
- Assignment Life Cycle - this is the online Canvas course to support you in developing your research and academic skills at UCB that you can access 24/7. It has been created by CASE and the Library to support you with your assignment from start to finish. Materials include guides and tutorials on understanding your assignment, researching and referencing, planning and structuring your writing, presentation skills and grammar support. You can access it on Canvas from your module pages or your dashboard.
- Assignment support, the two main ways of accessing the support from CASE are at the Academic Skills Centres and online on Canvas through the Assignment LifeCycle (HE Students) and CASE Toolkit (FE Students).
- Disability Support - CASE provides support for students with additional support needs.
- Grammarly - as a student at UCB, you have free access to Grammarly premium. Grammarly is an online system that helps with proofreading and grammar correction. Sign up to it using this link with your UCB email address.
If you are a student on a Further Education (College) course at UCB, you may be able to access 1-2-1 mentoring from a Higher Education student. This could help you develop your revision and study skills, think about your future career options or help you plan to move on to higher education. You can sign up to the scheme by contacting them for more information and access to an application form.
