Hate Crime

Hate incidents and hate crime are acts of violence or hostility directed at people because of who they are or who someone thinks they are. (Citizens Advice, 2019)

 

West Midlands Police

The West Midlands Police website has information on how to report Hate Crime as a witness or a victim.  This includes their online Live Chat facility. 

Their Live Chat is available beween 8am and midnight, every day. For Non-emergency calls, you can call 101 and there is also an accesible text phone available.

True Vision

True Vision provide information about crime and hate incidents, ways you can report them and support services available if you have been a victim. If you would prefer to anonymously report a Hate Crime, you can use their online form.

 

Stop Hate UK

Stop Hate UK are a national charity working to challenge and end all forms of Hate Crime and discimination. They provide independant and confidential reporting for victims, witnesses and third parties of Hate Crime. Stop Hate run a variety of help lines:

The Crown Prosecution Service

The CPS have information on their website about Hate Crime, what it is and what can be done in a situation where a crime has been committed. 

 

Victim Support

Victim Support are an indepednant charity who provide free and confidential support to people who have been affected by crime.

 

University Health and Wellbeing 

University College Birmingham has a Health and Wellbeing team who are on-hand to help manage any difficulties or concerns you might have. They provide specific Mental Health and Wellbeing support, including counciling, that you can access.

Samaritans are a free, confidential and non-judgemental listening service. If you need someone to talk to, you can call or e-mail them.
