Every September and Feburary, new students come to UCB looking for opportunities to get involved and meet new people.
Here are some ideas of how you could welcome them to UCB and encourage them to join your society:
1. Welcome Events
You could host a welcome event to encourage students to come along, meet new people and find out about your society. This could be socially distanced or delivered online, for ideas on how to deliver online events, please see our webpage here.
2. Social Media
Make sure to have your social media accounts set up and ready. We know our students are more likely to use Instagram or TikTok so consider that when setting yours up. Tag @ucbguildofstudents in your posts on Instagram and we will share them too.
3. Competitions
To get students engaged, you could put on competitions where students could win prizes as part of their welcome. It could be as simple as a like and share on social media or a little more complicated like taskmaster or a caption competition.
4. Digital Screens
If you want to have information about your society up on the digital screens at UCB, get in contact with c.oboyle@ucb.ac.uk for information on sizing of your digital artwork and we can pass that along to the University.
5. Introductory Videos
Film a video of your committee introducing themselves, letting students know what your society stands for and how to get involved. You could post this on social media or your Guild webpage too.
Make sure to keep your webpage updated with your events and activities so that students browsing the Guild website before they arrive will know they can get involved.
