Drinking too much can have a huge impact on your physical and mental health as well as have an impact on your day-to-day life like your social circumstances. You can find information on the risk of drinking here.

Reducing how much you drink can have a positive impact on how you feel both physically and mentally. In the longer-term, reducing your alcohol consumption can also lower your risk of some cancers, help with weight loss and decrease your blood pressure. We know that being on a computer screen all day can have an impact on your eyesight. The Guild offers free eye tests and money off-glasses to help keep your eyes healthy. You can find more information here. Remember to always take regular screen breaks too!

Checking yourself

We've discplayed information in the Office for how people can check their Boobs or Balls! Checking for lumps, bumps and changes and making sure to report these to your GP could change your life. If you're ever in doubt about something you find, you should always get this checked our by a health professional and make this part of your regular routine.

Smoking

UCB is a Smoke-Free campus and smoking is not permitted inside or outside any of it's buildings or on it's property. We want to support staff to quit smoking as quitting can have a hugely positive impact on their physical and mental health as well as their finances!

Smoking causes multiple different types of cancer including 7 out of every 10 cases of lung cancer. Smoking can damage your heart and blood circulation and therefore increasing your risk of conditions like heart disease, having a stroke or a heart attack. The impact on your lungs can also worsen issues such as asthma, and have an impact on your fertility.

You can find informaiton to help you stop smoking posted in the Moss House Officer or online here.

Weight Loss

You can get support with Weight Loss from your GP or check out the NHS Better Health Campaign. NHS Better Health even have an app you can download to help with Weight Loss and Nutrition as well as lots of infromation on their website here.
