We believe your mental health is just as important as your physical health. There are services available both online and in person that you can access at University and from local services.

University College Birmingham has a Health and Wellbeing team who are on-hand to help manage any difficulties or concerns you might have. They provide specific Mental Health and Wellbeing support, including counciling, that you can access. To book an appointment, you need to fill-in this online registration form on portal.
Emergency Support
To be used if you need immediate medical help – especially if you think you might act on suicidal thoughts, or you've harmed yourself and need urgent medical attention.

You can talk to your local GP about your mental health. You can find your closest GP, and what services they offer here. The NHS also provide a variety of self-help leaflets including ones about Anxiety, Depression and Low Mood, Stress and Self Harm.
Samaritans are a free, confidential and non-judgemental listening service. If you need someone to talk to, you can call or e-mail them.

Young Minds are working to support and campaign for young people in mental health crisis. They provide a 24/7, free Crisis Messenger service. Text YM to 85258 for help in a crisis.
Harmless provides a range of services about self harm and suicide prevention including information, support and training for people who self harm, their friends, families and colleagues and those at risk of suicide.
The Campaign Against Living Miserably provide a helpline, information and campaigns for men at risk of suicide. The CALM helpline is open from 5pm-midnight, 365 days a year. Alternatively, you can access help online on their webchat here.

PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to preventing suicide in young people and children, under the age of 35. They provide information and raise awareness of suicide as well as help and advice for those in crisis.
